Product Details

The Creality 235x235mm Frosted Black PEI Flexible Magnetic Build Surface is a popular two-part upgrade designed to improve first-layer print adhesion and simplify model removal on 235 x 235mm 3D printer beds. Combining a flexible spring steel sheet coated in a durable, textured black Polyetherimide (PEI) layer with a soft magnetic base, this platform allows prints to adhere firmly while hot and pop off effortlessly with a light flex of the steel plate once cooled.

Specification

  • Manufacturer: Creality 3D
  • Dimensions: 235mm x 235mm
  • Surface Texture: Frosted / Textured Matte Black PEI Powder Coating
  • Base Core: High-Tensile Spring Steel Sheet
  • Attachment Mechanism: High-Temp Soft Magnetic Base Mat with 3M Adhesive Backing
  • Maximum Working Temperature: Up to 110°C (Magnetic base backing resists demagnetization up to 80°C - 100°C.
  • Printer Compatibility: Direct fit for Ender-3, Ender-3 Pro, Ender-3 V2, Ender-3 S1 / S1 Pro, Ender-3 V3 SE / KE, Ender-5, Ender-5 Pro, CR-20, and other standard 235 x 235mm heat bed 3D printers.

Features

  • High-Adhesion Frosted PEI Finish: The textured black PEI coating provides strong mechanical grip for molten polymers during the initial layer pass, virtually eliminating corner warping on materials like PLA, PETG, and ABS without needing glue sticks or hairspray.
  • Flex-to-Release Spring Steel Core: Built on a resilient spring steel plate that bends without taking a permanent warp or deformation. Once cooled down, bending the plate slightly flexes it away from the print base, popping models off instantly.
  • Heavy-Duty Magnetic Base Mat: Ships with a flexible magnetic bottom layer pre-backed with heavy-duty $3\text{M}$ thermal adhesive. The magnetic sheet holds the top steel plate firmly in place during high-speed printing, preventing thermal shift or shifting along the Y-axis.
  • Matte Textured Bottom Finish: Imparts a clean, professional frosted texture onto the bottom surface of all printed parts, disguising first-layer extrusion lines and giving models an OEM factory finish.

Professional Usage & Maintenance Tips

  • Re-Calibrate Your Z-Offset First: Installing a new PEI plate changes the physical distance between your print nozzle and the bed surface. Before running a print, re-level your bed and adjust your Z-offset. Plowing a hot nozzle directly into the black PEI coating will scrape off the frosted layer, permanently damaging that section of the plate.
  • Wait for the Plate to Cool Before Flexing: Allow the heated bed to drop below 35°C before removing the spring steel sheet to pop off your prints. Flexing the plate while it is still hot can stretch the soft bottom plastic layers of your model or degrade the thermal bond of the frosted PEI coating.
  • Clean Exclusively with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA): Oils from skin contact are the main cause of poor first-layer adhesion on PEI surfaces. Wipe the bed down with a microfiber cloth dampened with 90%+ Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) before starting a print. Never use acetone, as it will dissolve or cloud the textured black PEI surface.
  • Use Glue Stick as a Release Agent for PETG and TPU: Materials like PETG and flexible TPU bond aggressively to PEI coatings. Printing them directly onto a raw PEI surface can cause them to fuse permanently, tearing off patches of the black coating when removed. Always apply a thin layer of washable glue stick as a release barrier when working with TPU or PETG
