The Creality 235x235mm PEI-Coated Glass Plate is a hybrid 3D printer build surface that combines the flat, warp-free nature of tempered glass with the strong adhesive properties of a Polyetherimide (PEI) coating. Designed as a direct upgrade or replacement for standard 235 x 235mm heat beds, this platform eliminates the uneven surface issues common with aluminum beds. It ensures strong first-layer adhesion when heated and allows for easy, effortless print removal once cooled down.

  • High-Planarity Tempered Borosilicate Glass: Provides an exceptionally flat surface. Placing this rigid glass plate over a warped aluminum heat bed levels out dips and high spots, ensuring a uniform Z-offset across the entire print area.
  • Microporous PEI Composite Layer: Features a specialized inorganic microporous coating. When heated, the pores expand and cross-link with the molten plastic filament for strong first-layer adhesion. As the bed cools down, the pores contract, naturally releasing the printed object without needing scrapers or force.
  • Dual-Sided Functionality:
    • Textured Side (Coated): Provides maximum adhesion for materials like PLA, ABS, and PETG, leaving a clean, textured pattern on the bottom face of prints.
    • Smooth Glass Side (Uncoated Reverse): Can be flipped over to print directly on smooth glass using glue sticks or hairspray, producing a mirror-polished bottom finish.
  • Durable & Thermal Shock Resistant: The heavy borosilicate glass structure conducts heat evenly across its entire surface, preventing localized hot/cold spots that cause corner warping on large models.

Professional Usage & Maintenance Tips

  • Adjust the Z-Axis Limit Switch / Offset First: Because this glass plate is roughly 4mm thick, installing it on top of a bed that previously used a thin magnetic sticker will significantly raise the bed height. Before home-homing your printer for the first time, raise your Z-axis limit switch by 4mm or adjust your Auto Bed Leveling (BL Touch /CR Touch) probe offset. Failing to do this can cause the nozzle to crash into and shatter the glass plate.
  • Allow Complete Cooling Before Print Removal: Resist the urge to pry fresh prints off the bed while it is still hot. Attempting to scrape prints off at 60°C can strip the PEI microporous coating off the glass. Wait until the bed temperature drops below 30°C - 35°C; you will often hear a faint clicking sound as the print detaches itself naturally.
  • Keep the Surface Clean using Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA): Fingerprint oils are the leading cause of first-layer adhesion failure on PEI glass. Wipe the bed down with a lint-free microfiber cloth dampened with 90%+ Isopropyl Alcohol before starting a print. Avoid using acetone or harsh industrial solvents, as they break down the microporous PEI chemical coating over time.
  • Use a Protection Barrier for PETG and TPU: Materials like PETG and flexible TPU bond exceptionally strongly to glass and PEI. In some cases, PETG can fuse to the surface and tear chunks of glass out when removed (known as "glass chunking"). Always apply a thin, uniform layer of washable glue stick or painter's tape on the print zone to act as a release agent when printing with PETG or TPU.
