Product Details

The eSUN eLastic TPE-83A White 1.75mm 1kg 3D Printer Filament is a highly flexible, high-resilience thermoplastic elastomer designed for functional elastic prototyping and end-use rubber-like components on desktop FDM 3D printers. Formulated with a soft 83A Shore hardness, this filament delivers extreme flexibility, outstanding impact damping, high elongation, and superior tear and abrasion resistance, making it an ideal choice for manufacturing custom gaskets, shock mounts, wearables, and protective covers.

Features

  • High Flexibility and Rubber-Like Resilience: Boasts an 83A Shore hardness with up to 600% elongation at break, allowing printed parts to bend, stretch, and compress under heavy mechanical loads and immediately snap back to their original shape.
  • Superior Vibration Damping and Shock Absorption: Provides excellent energy dissipation characteristics, making it highly effective for isolating vibration, reducing mechanical noise, and absorbing sudden drops or impacts.
  • High Tear and Wear Resistance: Delivers robust mechanical toughness and tear resistance, ensuring long-term durability in high-wear friction contacts and cyclical bending mechanisms.
  • Smooth Matte-Satin Surface Texture: Extrudes with a soft-touch matte finish that feels pleasant to grip, ideal for ergonomic handheld products, non-slip feet, and consumer wearables.
  • Resistant to Moisture and Chemical Exposure: Exhibits solid chemical resistance against water, oils, greases, weak acids, and mild environmental weathering.

Common Applications

  • Custom Gaskets, Seals & O-Rings: Printing custom-profile fluid-resistant gaskets, dust covers, and pipe flanges that require airtight or watertight compression.
  • Vibration Isolators & Protective Bumpers: Fabricating dampening feet for 3D printers and CNC machines, drone landing pads, and protective bumpers for power tools and electronic devices.
  • Ergonomic Grips & Wearables: Producing comfortable, non-slip handle wraps, tool grips, prosthetic liners, watch straps, and flexible shoe insoles.
  • Flexible Robotic Grippers & Tires: Manufacturing soft robotic end-effectors for delicate item sorting, and high-traction tires for RC vehicles and mobile robotics.

Professional Installation and Maintenance Tips

  • Use a Direct-Drive Extruder: Because of its soft 83A flexibility, eLastic TPE can easily buckle, tangle, or wrap around extruder gears in Bowden setups. Use a direct-drive extruder with a constrained, tight-tolerance filament path directly beneath the drive gear.
  • Print at Slow and Consistent Speeds: Maintain extrusion speeds between 15mm/s and 30mm/s. Keep travel speeds moderate, disable or minimize retraction (retraction distance 0.5mm - 1.5mm on direct drive), and turn off coasting to prevent under-extrusion jams.
  • Use Bed Adhesion Release Aids on PEI: Flexible elastomers can fuse too aggressively to smooth PEI or clean glass build plates. Apply a light layer of glue stick, blue painter's tape, or specialized bed spray as a release interface to avoid damaging the bed surface during part removal.
  • Dry Before Printing: TPE is hygroscopic and will absorb atmospheric moisture, resulting in stringing, popping noises at the nozzle, and surface pitting. Dry the spool in an active filament dryer at 50°C to 55°C for 4 to 6 hours before printing.
