The eSUN PLA-CF Carbon Fiber Black 1.75mm 1kg 3D Printer Filament is a high-rigidity, easy-to-print composite polymer designed for structural prototyping, aesthetic enclosures, and lightweight functional components on desktop FDM 3D printers. Compounded with an enhanced PLA base matrix reinforced with chopped high-modulus carbon fiber strands, this filament combines the effortless printability and low-shrinkage characteristics of standard PLA with significantly enhanced flexural stiffness, dimensional accuracy, and a premium matte carbon black textured finish.

Features
- High Structural Rigidity and Bending Modulus: The infused chopped carbon fiber network significantly elevates the flexural modulus and tensile strength, producing lightweight parts that resist flex and structural sagging under load.
- Zero Warping and Effortless Printability: Retains the user-friendly printing behavior of PLA, requiring no heated enclosure or extreme bed temperatures, making it easy to produce flat, warp-free prints with large surface areas.
- Premium Matte Textured Finish: Extrudes with an attractive, non-reflective micro-textured matte black appearance that effectively conceals layer lines, delivering parts with a professional, injection-molded aesthetic.
- Enhanced Dimensional Stability: The internal carbon fiber matrix restricts thermal expansion and contraction during extrusion, ensuring tight tolerances for snap-fit assemblies and interlocking components.
- High-Speed Printing Compatibility: Formulated with high melt fluidity and thermal conductivity, allowing clean, consistent extrusion on high-speed CoreXY platforms without under-extrusion voids.
Common Applications
- Drones, RC Planes & Robotics: Fabricating lightweight, high-rigidity drone arms, camera gimbals, landing skids, motor mounts, and robotic chassis brackets.
- Aesthetic Enclosures & Electronics Housings: Printing sleek, professional cases for DIY electronics, Raspberry Pi and Arduino projects, sensor bezels, and audio housings.
- Rapid Prototyping & Functional Mockups: Producing stiff concept models, architectural parts, and mechanical prototypes that require clean aesthetic presentation and high dimensional accuracy.
- Everyday Workshop Jigs & Fixtures: Crafting drill guides, measurement templates, tool organizers, and lightweight assembly brackets.
Professional Installation and Maintenance Tips
- Mandatory Wear-Resistant Nozzle: Carbon fiber particles are abrasive to soft brass nozzles. Always use a hardened steel, bi-metal, or ruby-tipped nozzle (0.4mm or preferably 0.6mm) to prevent rapid orifice widening and extrusion inconsistencies.
- Optimize First Layer on PEI Surfaces: Print on a smooth or textured PEI sheet heated to 50°C - 60°C. Ensure proper nozzle clearance on the first layer, as carbon fiber strands can cause slight backpressure if the nozzle is pressed too close to the build plate.
- Store Dry to Maintain Surface Quality: While PLA-CF is less hygroscopic than nylon, moisture absorption can cause surface stringing and minor cosmetic blemishes. Keep the spool stored in a sealed bag with silica desiccant or an active dry box when not in use.
- Handle Gently During Feeding: Carbon-fiber-reinforced filaments are naturally stiffer and slightly more brittle on the spool than unfilled polymers. Avoid sharp bends in the PTFE guide tubing to ensure smooth, unhindered feeding into the toolhead.
