The Original 5mm White Diffused LED (Production Quality - Pack of 1000 Pcs) is a high-grade, commercial-quality through-hole light-emitting diode engineered for high-volume electronic manufacturing, status indication, and illumination backlighting. Encapsulated in a standard T-1 3/4 (5mm) milky-white diffused epoxy resin lens, it integrates a high-efficiency InGaN (Indium Gallium Nitride) semiconductor chip that produces a uniform, wide-angle 6000K–6500K cool white light without hot-spotting or harsh glare. Featuring gold-wire internal bonding, copper leadframes for efficient thermal dissipation, and anti-static protection, these LEDs deliver exceptional color consistency across large production batches. They are widely utilized in industrial control panels, commercial instrumentation, automotive dashboard backlights, educational electronics kits, and consumer appliance indicators.

Features
- Milky-White Diffused Lens: Eliminates harsh central light glare and hot-spots, producing an evenly illuminated soft beam with a wide 60° viewing angle suitable for front-panel status indicators.
- Production-Grade Batch Consistency: Tight binning standards guarantee uniform forward voltage (VF), color temperature (6000K–6500K), and luminous intensity across the entire 1000-piece bulk reel.
- Robust Copper Leadframe: Solid copper alloy leads provide superior thermal dissipation and resist corrosion, preventing premature lumen depreciation and solder joint degradation.
- High Luminous Efficacy: Advanced InGaN die delivers bright, energy-efficient output even when driven at lower currents (5mA–10mA) for low-power battery-operated devices.
- Standard 2.54mm Through-Hole Pitch: Industry-standard 5mm form factor ensures seamless compatibility with automated PCB insertion equipment, breadboards, and panel-mount LED holders.
Common Applications
- Industrial Control & Status Panels: Front-face power-on indicators, active state monitors, and alarm pilot lights on machine control boxes.
- Consumer Electronics & Home Appliances: Power and function indicators for microwaves, washing machines, audio amplifiers, and power strips.
- PCB & Breadboard Prototyping: Standard benchtop indicators for Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and STEM robotics kits.
- Signage & Backlighting Modules: Uniform backlighting for diffusion panels, channel letters, and instrument gauge dials.
- Emergency & Flashlight Circuits: Low-voltage white lighting elements in rechargeable lamps and battery-operated DIY flashlights.
Usage Tips
- Always Use a Current-Limiting Resistor: **Never connect the LED directly across a voltage source (like a 3.7V Li-ion battery, 5V rail, or 12V supply) without a current-limiting series resistor**, as the LED lacks internal current regulation and will burn out instantly.
- Series Resistor Calculation Formula: R_series = (Vsupply - VF) / IF.
- From a +5.0V Logic Rail (at IF = 15mA, VF = 3.0V): R = (5.0V - 3.0V) / 0.015A = 133Ω (Standard 150Ω or 220Ω, 1/4W resistor recommended).
- From a +12.0V Supply (at IF = 15mA, VF = 3.0V): R = (12.0V - 3.0V) / 0.015A = 600Ω (Standard 560Ω or 680Ω, 1/4W resistor recommended).
- From a +24.0V Supply (at IF = 15mA, VF = 3.0V): R = (24.0V - 3.0V) / 0.015A = 1400Ω (Standard 1.5kΩ, 1/2W power resistor recommended).
- Verify Lead Polarity: The longer pin is the positive Anode (+); the shorter pin is the negative Cathode (-). The plastic base of the lens also features a flat edge on the Cathode side for optical and mechanical identification after trimming.
- Microcontroller Direct Drive: For 3.3V microcontrollers (ESP32, STM32, CH32V), the forward drop of 3.0V leaves only ~0.3V across the series resistor. Use a small 22Ω to 47Ω resistor for direct GPIO drive (5mA–10mA) or switch via a 2N2222/BC547 NPN transistor from the 5V rail.
- Soldering Precaution: When hand-soldering leads, maintain at least a 2mm distance between the soldering iron and the bottom of the epoxy body; limit iron contact time to under 3 to 5 seconds at 260°C to prevent thermal damage to the internal bond wire.
