Product Details

The TTP223 is a compact, high-sensitivity capacitive touch-sensing module designed to replace traditional mechanical buttons. It provides a clean, digital output and can detect human touch through various non-metallic materials like glass, plastic, or acrylic, making it ideal for creating waterproof or hidden switches.

Specifications

  • Operating Voltage: 2V to 5.5V DC
  • Response Time: ~60ms (Fast mode) / ~220ms (Low power mode)
  • Effective Sensing Range: ~5mm (depending on dielectric material)
  • Sensitivity: Adjustable (0 to 50pF via external capacitor)
  • Output Current: ~8mA (max)
  • Calibration: Auto-calibration every 4 seconds when not touched

Configuration (Jumper Settings)

The module features two solder jumpers, A and B, to customize the output behavior. (0 = Open/No Short; 1 = Shorted)

  • A=0, B=0: Momentary (No-lock), Active High / Idle Low (Default)
  • A=1, B=0: Momentary (No-lock), Active Low / Idle High
  • A=0, B=1: Latch/Toggle (Self-lock), Active High / Idle Low
  • A=1, B=1: Latch/Toggle (Self-lock), Active Low / Idle High

Features

  • Versatile Output Modes: Easily reconfigurable via solder pads to act as a momentary switch or a toggle (latching) switch.
  • Active High/Low Selection: Allows for direct compatibility with various microcontroller logic levels or relay modules.
  • Onboard Indicator: Includes a built-in red LED that illuminates instantly when the sensor is triggered.
  • Robust Detection: Designed with a re-calibration period to maintain accuracy and prevent false triggers due to environmental changes.
  • No Mechanical Wear: As a solid-state sensor, it has a significantly longer lifespan compared to mechanical tactile switches.
  • Hidden Mounting: Capable of being mounted behind panels, allowing for "invisible" buttons in sleek product designs.

Common Applications

  • Replacing mechanical push buttons in consumer electronics.
  • Creating waterproof control panels (mounting sensor behind sealed glass).
  • Interactive art installations and touch-activated LED projects.
  • Proximity sensing and hidden cabinetry light switches.
