Product Details

The MK8 0.4mm Brass 3D Printer Nozzle is the industry-standard replacement extrusion nozzle designed for MK8-style hotends across a vast range of desktop FDM 3D printers. Machined from high-grade, thermally conductive brass with a precision CNC-finished internal cavity, this 0.4mm nozzle offers the optimal universal balance between high-resolution surface detail, structural strength, and reliable print speed for all standard 1.75mm filaments.

Specification

  • Nozzle Standard: MK8 Profile
  • Orifice Output Diameter: 0.4mm
  • Filament Diameter Compatibility: 1.75mm
  • Material Composition: High-Purity International Standard Brass (H59 / H62)
  • Thermal Conductivity: Approx. 105 W/(m·K)

  • Total Length: 13mm
  • Hex Flat Diameter: 6mm
  • Inner Bore Roughness: Ra less than 0.4 µm
  • Printer Compatibility: Compatible with standard MK8 hotends and heater blocks, including Creality Ender-3 series, Ender-5 series, CR-10 series, Anet A8/A6, MakerBot Replicator, Tevo Tarantula, Anycubic Mega series, and other M6 MK8-threaded extruder assemblies.

Features

  • Universal 0.4mm Sweet Spot: Provides the gold standard balance between fine layer resolution (0.12mm to 0.28mm layer heights) and fast volumetric flow rates, making it the most versatile nozzle size for general 3D printing.
  • High Thermal Conductivity: High-grade brass construction delivers rapid and uniform heat distribution across the entire melt zone, ensuring consistent filament melting and strong layer-to-layer bonding.
  • Precision CNC Mirror-Bore Finish: Manufactured with a smooth internal transition and mirror-polished internal cavity (Ra less than 0.4 µm) to minimize drag, prevent filament snagging, and reduce the likelihood of clogs.
  • Flat Contact Sealing Face: Features a precision-machined flat rear shoulder that forms a tight, leak-free mechanical seal against the heatbreak throat or PTFE liner when properly hot-tightened.

Common Applications

  • Everyday Rapid Prototyping: Fabricating functional brackets, electronic enclosures, jigs, fixtures, and mechanical prototypes using standard filaments like PLA and PETG.
  • Home, Office, and Educational Projects: Printing architectural models, replacement household parts, school STEM projects, and decorative display items.
  • Routine Hotend Maintenance: Replacing worn, scratched, or partially blocked factory nozzles to restore original print precision, smooth outer walls, and consistent extrusion.

Professional Installation and Maintenance Tips

  • Always Perform Final Hot-Tightening: Screw the nozzle into the heater block finger-tight while cold, heat the hotend to 240°C - 250°C, hold the heater block securely in place using an adjustable wrench or pliers, and torque the nozzle firmly with a 6mm socket (approx. 1.5 to 2.0 N·m) to prevent molten plastic from leaking past the threads.
  • Ensure Square PTFE Tube Seating: On Bowden-style hotends, make sure the PTFE liner tube is cut perfectly flat at a 90-degree angle and pushed all the way down against the top of the nozzle before locking the pneumatic coupler clip to eliminate gap-related clogging.
  • Avoid Abrasive and Composite Filaments: Brass is a soft metal; printing with abrasive materials such as carbon fiber, glow-in-the-dark, wood, or metal-filled filaments will rapidly erode the 0.4mm orifice into an oversized, irregular hole. Use hardened steel or bi-metal nozzles for abrasive materials.
  • Re-Calibrate Bed Level and Z-Offset: Slight manufacturing variations can alter the nozzle tip height. Always re-level the print bed and calibrate the Z-offset after swapping nozzles to prevent the nozzle from scratching the build surface.
