Product Details

The Creality 235x235mm Frosted Black PEI Build Plate is a premium upgrade kit designed to replace standard glass or stock PC sticker beds on 3D printers. Utilizing a textured Polyetherimide (PEI) coating bonded to a flexible spring steel sheet, this system offers excellent first-layer adhesion when hot and effortless print removal when cooled.

Specifications

  • Dimensions: 235mm x 235mm
  • Surface Type: Frosted Black Textured PEI (Polyetherimide)
  • Core Material: High-elasticity Spring Steel Sheet
  • Base Layer: High-temperature resistant rubber magnetic sticker with adhesive backing
  • Maximum Working Temperature: Up to 110°C (magnetic base limit)
  • Color: Matte Frosted Black

Supported 3D Printers

This 235x235mm footprint is the standard bed size for many of the world's most popular medium-format desktop FDM 3D printers, including:

  • Creality: Ender 3, Ender 3 Pro, Ender 3 V2, Ender 3 S1 / S1 Pro, Ender 3 V3 SE / KE, Ender 5, and K1.
  • Other Brands: Any third-party printer utilizing a 235x235mm heated bed plate (e.g., BIQU B1, Elegoo Neptune 3 Pro/4 Pro).

Key Features

  • Excellent Adhesion (No Glue Required): The frosted, micro-textured PEI surface creates strong mechanical bonds with molten plastics like PLA, PETG, ABS, and TPU, preventing corner warping without needing messy glue sticks or hairspray.
  • Effortless Print Removal: Once the print finishes and the bed cools down to room temperature, the adhesion drops significantly. You can simply lift the flexible steel sheet off the magnetic base and gently flex it to pop the models right off.
  • Double-Layer Magnetic Configuration:
    • Layer A: The spring steel sheet with the textured PEI surface.
    • Layer B: The magnetic base plate that sticks permanently to your aluminum heated bed via high-strength 3M adhesive.
  • Durability and Warp Resistance: The high-strength spring steel core is engineered to withstand hundreds of print cycles and flexing without losing its flat shape or bowing.
  • Premium Matte Bottom Finish: Prints leave a clean, professional, high-end "frosted" or matte textured appearance on their bottom layer, hiding layer lines effectively.

Common Filament Compatibility

  • PLA: Prints perfectly at normal bed temperatures (50°C–60°C).
  • PETG / TPU: Adheres tightly at 70°C–80°C.
Note: Unlike glass, PETG will not permanently fuse to or crack a textured PEI surface.
  • ABS / ASA: Excellent adhesion at higher temperatures (90°C–110°C), though an enclosure is still recommended to manage ambient draft cooling.

Usage and Maintenance Tips

  • Installation: Clean your printer’s aluminum bed thoroughly with Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) to remove any factory grease before applying the magnetic base sticker. Smooth out air bubbles from the center outward.
  • Z-Offset Re-calibration: Because a PEI spring steel plate is significantly thinner than a standard 4mm glass bed, you must re-home your printer and re-calibrate your Z-offset/bed leveling immediately after installation to prevent the nozzle from scraping the new plate.
  • No Sharp Tools: Avoid using metal scrapers or spatulas to pry models off the bed. Sharp edges can gouge, scratch, or peel the thin PEI coating off the steel substrate. Simply flex the plate instead.
  • Cleaning Protocol: Regularly wipe down the frosted black surface with 90%+ Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) and a lint-free microfiber cloth to remove skin oils and dust. If adhesion drops over time, wash the plate with warm water and standard dish soap to strip away stubborn residue. Avoid using acetone, as it can degrade the PEI material.
