The eSUN PLA-Wood Plain Wood 1.75mm 1kg 3D Printer Filament is a composite decorative 3D printing filament engineered to produce parts with an authentic wood-like appearance, natural texture, and subtle earthy scent. Formulated from premium polylactic acid (PLA) blended with fine virgin wood fibers and foaming technology, this lightweight filament minimizes layer visibility and can be easily sanded, stained, carved, or painted like real wood, making it ideal for artistic sculptures, architectural models, and decorative crafts.

Features
- Authentic Natural Wood Finish: Infused with recycled natural wood fibers that produce a distinct matte, organic texture and subtle wood grain feel that effectively conceals layer lines.
- Post-Processing Versatility: Printed parts can be readily sanded, sawed, filed, drilled, and treated with commercial wood stains, varnishes, or acrylic paints to achieve custom wood grain and antique patina finishes.
- Thermal Tone Modulation: Slight variations in nozzle temperature (between 190°C and 220°C) subtly alter the shade of the extruded material, enabling natural simulated wood grain banding by programming temperature shifts.
- Low Warping and Strong Bed Adhesion: Low thermal shrinkage ensures flat, reliable first-layer bonding to textured PEI sheets, glass beds, and PC surfaces without corner lifting.
- Eco-Friendly and Low Odor: Emits a pleasant, faint natural wood aroma during extrusion without harsh or toxic chemical fumes.
- Neat Precision Machine Winding: Even spool winding minimizes overlapping, snagging, and knots to ensure uninterrupted long-duration print jobs.
Common Applications
- Artistic Sculptures & Figurines: Printing carved-style statues, decorative busts, tabletop terrain, and vintage ornaments.
- Architectural & Landscape Models: Fabricating organic dioramas, structural frames, and scale model woodwork for architectural presentations.
- Home Décor & Acoustic Enclosures: Crafting decorative planter pots, desk organizers, retro-style speaker housings, clock frames, and custom wall art.
- Cosplay Props & Replicas: Building realistic sword hilts, wand replicas, antique tool handles, and wearable cosplay accessories.
Professional Installation and Maintenance Tips
- Use a 0.4mm or 0.6mm Nozzle: While 0.4mm nozzles work well, using a 0.5mm or 0.6mm nozzle can reduce the risk of wood fiber micro-clogs during long print runs.
- Optimize Retraction and Avoid Heat Soak: Wood particles can burn or char if left sitting stagnant in a hot nozzle. Set appropriate retraction settings (0.8mm–1.5mm on direct drive, 3mm–5mm on Bowden) and avoid leaving the hotend at print temperature when not actively extruding.
- Sand and Stain for Depth: For a realistic timber finish, sand finished prints using progressive sandpaper grits (120 to 400 grit) and apply an oil- or water-based wood stain to darken the recessed surface fibers.
- Keep Filament Dry: Wood fibers are naturally hygroscopic and absorb ambient humidity faster than standard PLA. Store the spool in a sealed vacuum bag with silica desiccant or pre-dry at 45°C to 50°C for 4 to 6 hours if popping or stringing occurs.
