Product Details

The LED 5mm Red Clear Pack Good Quality (1000Pcs) is a high-volume supply of standard T-1 3/4 (5mm) through-hole light-emitting diodes engineered for high-visibility warning systems, optical instrumentation, custom illuminated signs, status panels, and commercial electronics manufacturing. Utilizing high-efficiency AlGaInP (Aluminum Gallium Indium Phosphide) semiconductor die technology paired with a crystal-clear, non-tinted epoxy lens, each diode produces a focused, high-intensity red beam (620nm–630nm) with luminous output ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 mcd at a narrow 20° to 25° beam angle. With a low forward voltage requirement (1.9V–2.2V), standard 2.54mm lead pitch, and low power consumption, this bulk pack is optimized for production lines, educational STEM kits, and high-density PCB arrays.

Features

  • High-Intensity Focused Beam: Delivers strong luminous output up to 8,000 mcd through a 20°–25° viewing angle, offering clear daylight visibility and long-range throw.
  • Optical Water-Clear Lens: Transparent epoxy encapsulation allows pure spectral transmission without color filtering or internal light attenuation.
  • Efficient AlGaInP Semiconductor Die: Offers high luminous efficiency with low forward voltage drop (1.9V–2.1V), generating minimal heat during continuous operation.
  • Standardized Polarity Markers: Features lead-length differentiation (longer anode) and a flat-edge notch on the cathode base for rapid, error-free assembly.
  • Economical 1000-Piece Value Pack: High-volume packaging tailored for manufacturing lines, makerspaces, school STEM laboratories, and repair shops.

Common Applications

  • Alarm & Hazard Warning Beacons: High-visibility alert strobes, security system trip indicators, and industrial fault alarms.
  • Automotive & Model Vehicle Lighting: Brake lights, tail lamps, and emergency beacons on RC models, drones, and custom automotive gauge clusters.
  • Optical Sensors & Light Barriers: Transmitter emitter for phototransistor break-beam sensors and optical encoders.
  • Illuminated Displays & Signage: High-contrast text backlighting, dot-matrix message boards, and decorative light arrays.
  • Microcontroller & STEM Prototyping: Breadboard logic circuits, status readouts, and timing experiments using Arduino, ESP32, or Raspberry Pi.

Usage Tips

  • Current-Limiting Resistor (MANDATORY): Never connect the LED directly across a voltage supply without a series resistor to prevent thermal runaway and junction failure:
    • Calculate using: R = (VSupply - VF) / IF
    • For a 5V DC Supply (IF = 15 mA, VF = 2.0 V): R = (5.0V - 2.0V) / 0.015A = 200 Ω → Use a standard 220Ω (1/4W) resistor.
    • For a 3.3V DC Supply (IF = 15 mA, VF = 2.0 V): R = (3.3V - 2.0V) / 0.015A ≈ 86.7 Ω → Use a standard 100Ω (1/4W) resistor.
    • For a 12V DC Supply (Single LED at 15 mA): R = (12.0V - 2.0V) / 0.015A ≈ 667 Ω → Use a standard 680Ω (1/4W) resistor.
    • For a 12V DC Supply (4 LEDs in Series at 15 mA): R = [12.0V - (4 × 2.0V)] / 0.015A = 4.0V / 0.015A = 267 Ω → Use a standard 270Ω to 330Ω (1/4W) resistor.
  • Identifying Polarity:
    • Positive (+ / Anode): Longer lead wire.
    • Negative (- / Cathode): Shorter lead wire, flat-notched edge on the epoxy base rim, and larger internal lead-frame anvil.
  • Soldering Precautions: Maintain soldering iron temperatures between 260°C and 300°C and complete soldering within 3 seconds per lead, keeping the iron tip at least 2mm away from the epoxy body.
  • Storage Recommendations: Keep unused bulk LEDs sealed in their anti-static moisture-barrier bag in a cool, dry location to preserve lead solderability.
