The Plastic 12x12 inch Density White Acrylic 2mm is a precision-manufactured polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA / Plexiglass) rigid sheet designed for precision laser cutting, CNC milling, electronic equipment enclosures, faceplates, scale prototyping, and uniform light diffusion. Measuring 12 × 12 inches (approx. 305 mm × 305 mm) with a nominal 2.0 mm thickness, it provides exceptional structural rigidity, tensile strength, and impact resistance while remaining less than half the weight of conventional mineral glass. Engineered with a specialized high-density opaque-to-diffusive white pigmentation, it scatters backlight evenly across its surface without hot-spotting, making it an essential fabrication stock for robotics chassis, signage displays, custom switch panels, and maker lab builds.

Features
- High-Density Light Diffusion: Engineered with fine mineral-dispersed white pigments to spread focused LED array light into an evenly saturated, glow-free illuminated plane without showing individual lamp points.
- Precision Laser Edge Quality: Cuts cleanly and vaporizes smoothly under CO2 laser beams, producing polished, glass-like edge profiles that require zero flame finishing or manual sanding.
- High Strength-to-Weight Ratio: Offers 6 to 10 times the shatter resistance of traditional float glass while reducing overall assembly weight for portable devices and robotic platforms.
- Thermal Forming Capability: Pliable when heated locally between 140°C and 160°C with a strip heater or heat gun, allowing precise, rigid 90° bends for desktop instrument cases and mounting brackets.
- Dual-Sided Scratch Protection: Supplied with heavy-duty peel-off surface film that protects against scratches, swarf marks, and grease during layout scoring, transport, and machining.
Common Applications
- Electronic Instrument Enclosures: Laser-cutting modular cases, top plates, and mounting brackets for Arduino, Raspberry Pi, power supply units, and test equipment.
- Custom Control & Switch Panels: Front console panels with clean cutouts for rotary potentiometers, toggle switches, pushbuttons, and OLED/LCD screens.
- Illuminated Signage & Lightboxes: Backlit lightboxes, edge-lit menu signs, emergency indicators, and modern retail channel displays.
- Robotics Chassis Plates: Stiff, lightweight bottom baseplates and multi-tier deck platforms for educational mobile robot kits.
- Architectural & Scale Models: Structural walls, scale partitions, miniature furniture, and clean display bases for exhibition models.
Usage Tips
- Protective Masking Protocol (CRITICAL):
- Keep the protective paper or film adhered to both sides while laser cutting, drilling, or sawing.
- During laser processing, this layer prevents vaporized resins, soot, and exhaust condensation from settling onto the pristine white surface. Strip the mask only after parts are cut and cooled.
- Laser Cutting Speed & Frequency Settings:
- For a standard 40W–60W CO2 laser tube, cut 2mm acrylic at moderate speed with continuous assist air (approx. 10–15 psi) to blow away vaporized flammable gases and yield clean, fire-polished cut edges.
- For vector engraving or raster marking, adjust power lower to prevent excessive trenching or discoloration along the white face.
- Drilling Recommendations: Use specialized plastic drill bits (60° to 90° tip angle with zero rake) or lightly dull standard twist bits to keep them from catching and cracking the bottom surface. Clamp a solid scrap board beneath the acrylic sheet for backup support.
- Solvent Welding & Bonding: Standard cyanoacrylate (superglue) will leave hazy white fumes (blooming) across the glossy surface. Use water-thin acrylic solvent cement (methylene chloride base) with a needle applicator for water-clear, structurally fused joints.
- Surface Cleaning Caution: Never clean acrylic with rubbing alcohol, acetone, lacquer thinner, or ammonia-based cleaners, which induce immediate chemical crazing, spiderweb cracking, and clouding. Wash only with lukewarm water, mild liquid dish soap, and a clean microfiber cloth.
