The Gordak 952A SMD Rework Station is a dual-function benchtop soldering and desoldering station combining an adjustable hot air rework gun and a high-performance soldering iron. Designed for electronic repair technicians, hardware engineers, and PCB assembly labs, it features independent dual-control circuitry, dual analog readouts/controls, and an integrated diaphragm air pump. It is built to handle sensitive surface-mount devices (QFP, SOP, PLCC, BGA) as well as traditional through-hole soldering tasks.

Controls and Front Panel Guide
- Independent Power Switches: Separate rocker switches for the hot air rework gun and the soldering iron, allowing individual or simultaneous operation.
- Hot Air Knobs:
- Heater Dial: Adjusts the hot air output temperature (100°C–450°C).
- Air Dial: Controls the diaphragm pump flow rate (Air volume).
- Soldering Iron Knob: Sets the target tip temperature (200°C–480°C).
- Indicator LEDs: Heating cycle indicators that pulse to show active PID thermal regulation.
- Holders: Side-mounted hot air gun cradle and a standalone heavy-duty metal soldering iron stand with sponge/brass wire cleaner.
Key Features
- Independent Dual Operation: The soldering iron and hot air rework sections operate independently with their own power controls and temperature regulators, saving bench space without compromising flexibility.
- Diaphragm Air Pump Mechanism: Delivers stable, uniform, and focused airflow that prevents adjacent miniature SMD components (such as 0402/0603 passives) from being displaced during reflow.
- Automatic Cold Air Cooling Protection: Features an automatic cooling cycle upon switching off the hot air gun, purging residual heat to significantly extend the lifespan of the internal heating element.
- ESD-Safe Construction: 24V isolated soldering iron supply and grounded casing prevent electrostatic discharge and leakage current from damaging delicate CMOS and IC chips.
- Standard Consumables Compatibility: Compatible with universal 900M-series soldering iron tips and standard clamp-on hot air nozzles.
Common Applications
- SMD Rework & BGA Desoldering: Reflowing, removing, and soldering surface-mount ICs including SOIC, CHIP, QFP, PLCC, and BGA packages.
- Through-Hole Electronics Assembly: Assembling standard leaded components, terminal blocks, and connectors on multi-layer PCBs.
- Heat Shrinking & Curing: Precision shrinking of heat-shrink tubing, thermal preheating, and softening hot-melt adhesives without naked flames.
- Device Repair & Maintenance: Reworking mobile phones, computer motherboards, automotive control modules, and consumer appliances.
Usage Tips
- Transport Screw Removal: If the unit is brand new, check the underside of the base chassis for the pump transit screw (typically painted red). Remove this transport locking screw prior to first use; failing to remove it will cause loud vibration and excessive noise from the internal diaphragm pump.
- Automatic Cooldown Cycle: When turning off the hot air section, allow the pump to continue blowing air through the handle until the nozzle cools below 100°C before cutting main wall power. This prevents heat buildup from burning out the heating coil.
- Nozzle Selection: Use the narrowest nozzle that fully covers the target IC pins. Ensure nozzle screws are snug but not over-tightened when hot to prevent thread stripping.
- Soldering Tip Maintenance: Always tin the soldering iron tip with fresh solder before resting it in the stand and turning the unit off to prevent surface oxidation.
