Product Details

The Industrial Heavy-Duty 200W Electric Soldering Iron (220V–240V AC / UK 3-Pin Grounded Plug) is an ultra-high-thermal-capacity hand soldering tool engineered for extreme heavy-duty electrical wiring, large sheet metal fabrication, heavy copper busbar joints, armature rewinding, and thick battery cable terminations. Featuring an extra-large solid copper chisel/wedge tip paired with an industrial high-power mica/ceramic core heating element, it generates intense, continuous heat capable of overcoming massive thermal heatsinking on large metal substrates. Fitted with a fused, grounded standard UK 3-pin mains plug (BS 1363) and a heat-insulated ergonomic handle with an integrated slip-guard flange, this 200W iron is widely utilized in electric motor rebuilding, automotive starter/alternator repairs, battery busbars, stained glass joining, sheet metal roofing, and industrial equipment maintenance.

Features

  • Massive 200W Thermal Mass: Provides tremendous heat storage and fast thermal replenishment to solder thick copper blocks, heavy-gauge cables, and metal housings without joint freezing.
  • Extra-Large Solid Copper Chisel Tip: Wide contact profile maximizes surface contact area, transferring heat rapidly into heavy metal joints for smooth, complete solder wetting.
  • Safe UK 3-Pin Grounded Connection: Compliant with BS 1363 safety standards, featuring a built-in protective fuse and continuous earth grounding for operator and workplace safety.
  • Ventilated Stainless Steel Barrel: Multi-slotted stainless steel collar efficiently dissipates ambient radiant heat away from the handle to keep the grip comfortable during continuous operation.
  • Ergonomic Handle with Safety Guard: Designed with a broad safety flange collar to prevent hand slippage toward the heated metal barrel during high-pressure soldering operations.

Common Applications

  • Heavy Electrical Cable Terminations: Soldering thick 0 AWG to 6 AWG battery power cables, large inverter lugs, and industrial switchgear leads.
  • Electric Motor & Generator Rewinding: Joining heavy armature wire, stator coils, high-capacity commutators, and field coil connections.
  • Sheet Metal & Radiator Repair: Seaming and repairing copper radiators, brass tanks, zinc gutters, galvanized sheets, and tinplate assemblies.
  • Stained Glass & Lead Came Work: Rapid joining of wide lead came channels, zinc border strips, and heavy copper foil assemblies.
  • Battery Pack & Busbar Soldering: Soldering high-current copper busbars and solid grounding rods in off-grid solar and industrial battery installations.

Usage Tips

  • First-Time Tip Tinning: When powering on for the first time, immediately apply rosin-core solder generously to the chisel tip as it warms up. Coating the tip before full operating temperature is reached prevents surface oxidation and preserves the tip coating.
  • Use a Heavy-Duty Metal Rest: Due to extreme 200W heat generation, always rest the iron on a sturdy, heavy-gauge all-metal soldering iron stand. Avoid placing near plastic tools, flammable chemicals, or unshielded bench surfaces.
  • Strictly Not for PCB / Electronics Work: This iron is designed exclusively for heavy structural, electrical, and sheet metal soldering. Do not use on printed circuit boards (PCBs) or delicate semiconductor components, as the high heat will instantly delaminate copper traces and destroy components.
  • Flux Application: Use heavy-duty active rosin flux or paste flux for large copper joints. For non-electrical sheet metal joints (brass, zinc, galvanized steel), use appropriate zinc chloride or acid soldering flux, ensuring the joint is neutralized with water after cooling.
  • Tip Maintenance: Clean the hot tip using a brass wire cleaner or a damp natural cellulose sponge. Never use coarse metal files or abrasive emery cloth on electroplated tips, as removing the protective iron plating will cause rapid copper erosion.
