Product Details

The eSUN PETG-CF Carbon Fiber Black 1.75mm 1kg 3D Printer Filament is a high-performance, carbon-fiber-reinforced engineering polymer designed for functional prototyping and rigid structural components on desktop FDM 3D printers. Compounded with a modified PETG base matrix infused with chopped high-modulus carbon fiber strands, this filament combines the effortless printability, low shrinkage, and chemical resistance of PETG with the high structural stiffness, dimensional stability, and premium matte finish of carbon fiber composite materials.

  • Tensile Strength: Approx. 50 - 60 MPa
  • Flexural Modulus: Approx. 3500 - 4200 MPa
  • Spool Material: Eco-Friendly Recyclable Cardboard or High-Temp Plastic Spool
  • System Compatibility: Works with open and enclosed FDM 3D printers, including Bambu Lab (AMS compatible), Creality, Anycubic, Prusa, Elegoo, Kingroon, and Artillery.

Features

  • Enhanced Rigidity and Structural Modulus: Infused with high-modulus chopped carbon fibers that substantially increase the flexural stiffness and tensile resistance compared to neat PETG, preventing deformation under mechanical loads.
  • Low Warping and High Dimensional Stability: The carbon fiber network minimizes thermal contraction during cooling, enabling warp-free printing of large-footprint functional parts even on open-frame 3D printers.
  • Premium Matte Textured Finish: Extrudes with a distinctive, non-reflective matte black micro-texture that effectively hides layer lines, giving finished parts a professional, injection-molded appearance.
  • Superior Chemical and Weather Resistance: Inherits PETG’s strong resistance to moisture, mild acids, alkalis, oils, and UV exposure, making it well-suited for outdoor and harsh workshop environments.
  • Smooth Flow and Clog-Resistant Formulation: Engineered for consistent melt viscosity and thermal stability, ensuring steady extrusion through direct-drive and Bowden systems with minimal stringing.

Common Applications

  • Drones and RC Robotics: Manufacturing high-stiffness drone arms, motor mounts, camera gimbals, robot chassis, and lightweight structural brackets.
  • Automotive & Mechanical Fixtures: Fabricating custom interior brackets, cable conduits, gauge pods, and fluid-resistant protective enclosures.
  • Industrial Jigs and Tooling: Printing rigid manufacturing aids, drilling templates, assembly fixtures, and robotic end-of-arm tooling.
  • Outdoor & Marine Gear: Creating weather-resistant mounts, sensor housings, and functional hardware exposed to water and sunlight.

Professional Installation and Maintenance Tips

  • Mandatory Hardened / Wear-Resistant Nozzle: Carbon fiber strands are abrasive to standard brass nozzles. Always use a hardened steel, bi-metal, or ruby-tipped nozzle (0.4mm or preferably 0.6mm) to avoid rapid orifice erosion and extrusion inconsistencies.
  • Apply Bed Release Agent on Smooth Surfaces: PETG-CF can bond aggressively to bare glass and smooth PEI sheets. Apply a light layer of glue stick, specialized bed adhesive, or use a textured PEI plate to ensure easy, damage-free part removal once cooled.
  • Pre-Dry Filament for Optimal Surface Quality: While PETG-CF is less hygroscopic than Nylon, moisture absorption can still cause surface oozing and minor stringing. Dry the spool in an active filament dryer at 60°C to 65°C for 4 to 6 hours before printing.
  • Dial in Retraction Settings: PETG is naturally prone to stringing; use slightly lower extrusion temperatures (around 240°C) with tuned retraction distances (0.8mm–1.5mm on direct drive, 3mm–5mm on Bowden) and moderate cooling fan speeds (20%–40%) to achieve crisp perimeters.
